The Nexus: Part 1

Alright.... I RP on a DBZ RPG Message Board. Kind of corny i know.... But, it lets me blow off some steam writing some weird stuff sometimes.

Everyonce in a while ill post something extremely blood thirsty and such, and then their is the usual Character Development post, which i do some of... The following is one of them...

Again, i just started writing, and i didnt stop til my mind was just about empty.... For those of you who have seen DBZ, you may recognize some of the words.. But that will probably be it.. Well... here it is...

Rem in Celestial Home:...

"Awake Namek, the time has come." A voice, sounding female reports. With a
grunt and a sigh, a green warrior on the ground at her feet opens a single eye,
questions reverberating in his mind and eyes.

"Speak Not namek.... Listen only." With a second grunt, rem forces himself into
a kneeling position and the female in front of him, white, with blonde hair and a
comforting smile kneels as well. "Here is some tea, drink." And she hands him
a small glass containing a dark liquid. With but a pause he downs the drink, and
comes into a sitting position.

The woman again begins to speak. "You are no longer in your galaxy, nor your
universe. Not even the same plane." A look of panic comes over rems eyes,
but she quickly comforts him. "Oh no, don't worry. Neither are you dead." AS
the nameks eyes lose their surprise, she continues. "We saved you from your
plight. Much time has passed since your eyes have last opened."

For a second a glazed look comes over the Nameks eyes, "How... Much?"

Rem had never expected to survive his time in space, he had hoped to die while
sleeping, from being open to the coldness of space, from oxygen or nutrient
deprivation. He had accepted death, only to find himself still alive.

"Over a year." She says simply.

Rem lets his thought drift. His friends may be dead, or gone. The people he
knew may have forgotten or left him. Those who have aided him in the past
may be no more.... So much to comprehend. A year, while it doesn't seem like
long, in the universe's grand scheme is almost an eternity. While rem is
pondering his new circumstances, and the possible implications it may have on
his life, his hostess leaves and returns moments later with perhaps the greatest
invention of this universe. A Senzu!

"Eat Namek... And regain your strength." The woman says, interrupting his
thoughts.

After downing the small bean, Rem opens his mouth and speaks again. "So
where exactly am i then?"

The woman opens her mouth to speak, and gets a sort of semi-pained look on
her face. "Well.. it's hard to say... The easiest way to explain it is to say you are
in a higher dimension. But not in the sense you are use to. The dead do not
come here, and neither do the living. Well.. Except for you, and a few others....
Ummm.. Well, its complicated. Just be content in the knowledge that this place
does exist, however not as you would recognize, and that you have been
allowed to come here..."

Rem accepts her attempt at describing this place, which for the first time, he
stands up and looks at. For the moment, it looks like they are in an ancient
Japanese house, with paper walls, sliding doors, and a tea set. As he stands,
so does his hostess.

She follows him as he pushes his way through a few doors, and finally comes to
the front one. He can tell because a few pairs of sandals are stacked at the
door. Who for, only god knew.

As he opens the door, it making a soft sound as it slides easily, he looks out....
And sees a half dozen children of varying denominations playing in a tire swing,
or on a slide.... Quickly rem turns, and gives a quick questioning look to the
woman who's name he still doesn't know. But she doesn't even meet his gaze.
The namek warrior takes a few steps into the yard, and walks toward the
children. About a dozen paces from them, he stops and watches them play.

All of a sudden, one girl approaches rem and begins to speak. "Following the
Fall of A Demon's Might. Gojira's kin shall become mens plight. A fellowship
shall form, and some shall fall. But Strength in Number shall be the call. Upon
The Earth, warriors shall meet. And in that hour, will dole defeat!"

For less than a millisecond, as the girl brushes rems arm, a vision of blood,
death, chaos, and battle scream into his mind. As their skin touches, rem finally
understands the universe, and his part in it... But as she slowly walks away,
going back to the tire swing, he forgets it all. Remembering it as if it was a
dream that he had woken in the middle of. It was among the saddest moments
in Rems life when he realized he couldn't remember his personal significance.
His contribution to the universe.

It
It takes all of Rems willpower not to rush towards the girl and attempt to
remember. All of it, any of it. He was frantic. His mind was folding itself over
and over, attempting to find the lost information... But it was a lost cause.

Just
as Rem decides he HAS to get it back, he feels a warm hand against his
shoulder. His hostess. "She isn't your answer. You know. She may have the
answers, but what would be the purpose of you recieving them when no other
soul has such luxury? The questions are out there..." The woman motions
behind rem, extending her hand, as if motioning to infinity. And indeed, behind
the namek is a wall of space, stars, heavenly bodies to no end. The size of it, in
comparison to him, is inconceivable. Even though he is looking straight at it, he
can't imagine it being real. Every other time rem has looked at the stars, or sun,
or moon, it has been from a planets surface, looking up. For the first time in his
life, he is looking at the Universe as if it had a beginning, and an end. And he
was standing at its start.

"I... See... So.. Much." Rem finally gets out. His eyes wander in front of him.
Whereever he looks comes into focus. A planet here, a star there. So much to
see, it doesn't seem as if there will ever be enough time to see it all. Rems gaze
shoots forward, past the first wall of stars and planets, and his dimensions are
blown again. On and on the wall of blacks and hues progress. Beyond
measure, beyond... Everything.

Just as the Namek finally grasps the size of the universe, the woman speaks.
"Have you realized the nature of the universe yet? Or do you only think you
do?" And at that moment, the ground beneath rems feet fade from sight, only to
reappear as a field of space and stars. Rem, in fear of falling forever, attempts
to catch himself, and tries to levitate, but to no avail. "Dear Namek. Dont Fret....
The universe will not swallow you. Its size and significance should be a
comfort, not a threat!"

Rem accepts her words for a moment, and turns to face her.. Only to almost die
of shock. The sky which had been a beautiful blue hue, was the coldest of
blacks now, and so was direction directly behind him. And then it sinks in! He
was so stupid earlier. He could not stand at the beginning of the Universe, and
look toward the end. He could only be in whatever part of it he was in, and see
however far his eyes could see. While the universe was not the only plane in
Existence, it is infinite in the plane it exists in!

Rems mind spun... "Where are the children?" He asks a moment later, as his
mind adjusts to what he has been shown and has discovered?

The woman smiles and answers. "This is a Nexus for all the Planes. The
Guardians and Guides of Each Universe and Plane can survive here. But here
is anywhere, and everywhere. So in reality, they can be anywhere in any plane,
in any universe. And because the universe as well as the number of Universe's
is infinate, they can be any TIME they want!"

Rem, again, is stunned. "So.. The children were what.... Gods?"

The woman gives a small laugh, "I guess you can call them that.. Though... That
would be an ignorant thing to call them, for they do not see themselves as gods,
and a person is only as much as they appear to be to themselves."

"So... Are they children then? Just playing at a tire swing when they so
desire?"

The woman smiles brighter, "Ah.. And so you begin to learn. At the moment you
saw them, you believed them to be just children on a swing did you not? And
so, in your mind that is what they were. But, was that vision one of this location,
or of a universe somewhere else... Who knows. The nexus doesn't distinguish
between realities, it only separates them."

Rems mouth opens, and he interrupts. "How can the Nexus distinguish or
separate? Or do neither or both? I thought it was simply a location."
Again, the woman smiles, seemingly content with rems questions and
comments.

"The Nexus is the Soul of the Infinite. Everything that has existed
has not necessarily come from the Nexus, but has been inspired from a place or
thing inspired by a place or thing, and so on and so on, which originally
separated itself from all other such things within the nexus. The Nexus cares
not for things in particular, but cares for their essence and their existance. You,
my Namek friend, originated on Namek, in your own universe. While a form of
you may exist in a... as you say, Parallel universe, you yourself only exist in one
of the many."

Rem ponders for a second, and gives a slight grin; "I bet you say that to all the
Rems you meet."

Again, the smile from the woman, "You understand then? Yes, i think you do. I
may have given this conversation to many of your... Lets call them twins. I may
have revealed as much as i have to you to them. But that changes not the fact
that they are separate beings and have separate identities from you. Or else
you would remember the other meetings."

"Time!" The namek blurts out a moment later, and a big grin eminates from the
woman as his question is asked. "What about time. Does the nexus separate
time and the way it flows between the Universe's? And what of time here. I can
not see time traveling as it does on Earth and in my Universe. If that were so,
how can i have taken up such a large portion of yours, as well as as many of
my.. er, twins as you may have seen, and still leave time for the rest of the...
Infinite?!"

"Yes, is the answer you are looking for i believe." She says, navigating his trail
of words. "Time doesn't necessarily travel the same in any 2 universe's. Your
universe travels forward at a slighly slower speed than average. A good many
planes travel at time speeds many times your own. A being in one universe
may live a single minute, compared to your universe, but live to be old, and gray
in his. Have a life time of achievements, and a housefull of kids. In another
universe, time travels backwards, and since that is all they know, that is the only
way they realize time operates. How do you know time travels at the right speed
and direction in your home? What can you base it on without having
experienced the many variable forms of time?"

Rem nods solemly. "Alright... Last question i guess,"

Before the Namek can even ask, and get it off his chest, the woman speaks:
"Why you? Why in this Universe of Universe of infinite beings, why would you
be chosen to be saved and then have all this revealed to you?"

Rem nods again.

"Well.... I'll tell you later." She says, and claps her hands.

A second later the star field, the woman, and all of creation disappears from
sight... To be replaced by a grassy field. Rem, confused, stands up and takes a
deep breath. "No way!" He almost screams....

Again, he breathes in the familiar air, "Namek!!!"

Well.. Again, i apologize.. I know thats weird, and has a semi-matrix kind of feel to it.... It was 4:30 am, and i had 2 hours of sleep when i started writing... Im still weirded out that i wrote something like that...
